EXCURSIONS * NORTH WEST COAST- POINTE aux Piments

Our propositions of excursions
Cap Soleil, votre agence à l'ile maurice

Mauritius, it is not only idleness, beaches of fine sand and hotels 5 stars. We propose also interesting excursions and visits of the Island: ballad in catamaran, submarine dive, visit of parks and domains, walking under the water, in the evening Séga....

Port Louis – Pamplemousses Botanical Garden

Port Louis is the Capital of Mauritius and its only port, enchanting in its diversity. There, modern buildings stand next to traditional colonial houses; the market abounds with exotic fruits, vegetables and spices; and vendors will tempt you with garments at unbelievable prices.
The China town will fascinate you by its atmosphere, its characteristic smells and its shops filled with curios. But you might well prefer to visit one of its famous jewellery shops.
In Port Louis, you will find Temples, Mosques, Churches and old military fort dating from the days of English colonisation, and offering you a superb view of the city and the harbour.

At lunchtime you can choose a set menu offering Creole food which you can enjoy in the Veranda of a genuine Colonial house, Eureka, now converted into a museum, ten minutes from town. An exotic Chinese meal on the city waterfront The best Indian cuisine at "Domaine les Pailles"

After lunch, we go north to the Pamplemousses Garden created in the XVIIIth Century by Pierre Poivre. Your guide will tell you all of the botanical garden, which ranks among the most famous of its kind in the world.

Ile aux Cerfs (An island adjacent to Mauritius)
With its sandy beaches, coconut trees and casuarinas, Ile Aux Cerfs is the Tropical island of your dreams, only ten minutes away from the mainland by boat - a short trip across the lagoon with its fantastic colours.
Although the island is a popular resort, you can still find a quiet corner in one of its small coves or on the neighbouring Mangénie Island.
For the more active, there are pedal boats, canoes, water ski, wind surfing and even paragliding. However, the cost of those activities is not included in the excursion package, which is as follows:
(1) Relaxing on the beach of Ile aux Cerfs, lunch in one of the restaurants on the Island.
(2) Morning relaxing on the beach, around noon visit of a waterfall at the mouth of the Grand River South East.
For lunch a BBQ grill with different choice as fish, lobster and chicken. In the afternoon idling on the Island
Curepipe - Chamarel (7 coloured earth)

A trip to the interior of the island, with its marvellous sights, and Trou Aux Cerfs, its dormant volcano. The visit starts in Curepipe, one of the largest commercial and residential towns situated near Trou Aux Cerfs where you will discover a great variety of local and duty free products in the city centre.

We shall also stop at one of the factories specialising in the famous ships models. The trip will continue through Mare aux Vacoas, Plaine Champagne, Grand Bassin (where Hindu pilgrims gather occasionally and every year) and the Black River Gorge down to Chamarel, offering a variety of landscapes ranging from dense continental forests, luxuriant tropical vegetation, against the blue of the Indian Ocean.
Two possibilities for lunch (Drinks not included)
- Chinese restaurant in Curepipe
- A sumptuous meal, in the enchanting valley of Chamarel, "La Varangue sur Morne" Restaurant

Mahebourg / Domaine du Chasseur
Mahébourg is steeped in history. It was named after Mahé de Labourdonnais, French Governor of Mauritius, and was the Capital of the island during the French occupation. It is now more like a large fishing village. Places of natural and historical interest include the new refurbished naval museum with pictures and relics of the encounter between the British and French ships at Île de la Passe in 1810, and a cassava biscuit factory created in 1870.

At Anse Jonchée, the road winds up the mountains side through pineapple plantations and magnificent trees to Le Domaine du Chasseur. For lunch we propose Venison at Le Domaine du Chasseur OR Seafood lunch at "Le Barachois" restaurant

South-unspoilt
The South coast has preserved much of its primeval beauty.
At Gris Gris, for example where the waves come crushing against the cliffs.
Souillac will remind us of the Mauritian Poet, Robert Edouard Hart, who spent the last years of his life there.
In Rivière des Anguilles, we shall have a guided tour of the 'La Vanille Crocodile Park'.
Then onwards along the coast to Riambel, Pomponette, Pointe aux Roches, villages with quaint names which conjure up memories of the past.

Le Domaine Les Pailles

Ten minutes from Port Louis, the capital, at the foot of the mountains, a forgotten valley, LE DOMAINE LES PAILLES. Visitors will be able to rediscover the old ways of living in an environment surrounded by nature with old traditions carefully revived.
Visitors will be first taken by horse driven carriage or by train to the RENDEZ-VOUS, where the visit begins.
The MILL, a true copy of the first sugar mill of the ancient ISLE DE FRANCE, will give the visitor the opportunity to see how sugar was produced during Pierre Poivre's century in 1770.
Complement to the Mill, the ALAMBIC, a true replica of a model dating back to 1758 found at the French archives in Paris, allows us to distil our own Rum.
Two hours drive in the mountain and the valley on board Land Rovers with unparalleled views on the western plains of Mauritius.

For lunch, you will have the choice among 3 restaurants:
- La Canelle Rouge caters for an extensive variety of quick meals with the same quality which Le Domaine uses as its benchmark
- Indra, meaning "God of the Sky" offers the very finest of Indian cuisine in a decor and ambiance second to none.
- Fu Xiao, the "Laughing Buddha" brings you an authentic taste in China.

Isla Mauritia
We shall board this historic XVIIth Century sailing craft at Grand Bay. The skipper will present your illustrious hostess before setting sail out of the lagoon.
The swishing of the wind in the sails the whistle punctuating the skipper's orders to the crew, the deep blue waters rushing alongside the boat sides…. will build up unforgettable souvenirs to take back home.
"Isla Mauritia" will anchor in the sheltered bay of Balaclava where lunch will be served on the beach, which can be reached by the shuttle boat or by a swim.
Whilst the crew will prepare your lunch, you will be able to discover the coral outcrops. On the way back, the tropical rhythm of the crew turned entertainers will get into your body and you will soon join in.
Catamaran "ManouCat"
The catamaran is based at Trou aux Biches, which you will reach around 08hr30.
From there, you will sail towards L'Ile Plate, some 8 nautical miles away (1 hour).
On the way there, you will pass by the "Coin de Mire" a superb rocky island rising from the sea. A haven for rare birds.
L'Ile Plate has a rich historical past traces, which are still to be found amongst the trees: remnants of huts a well pan abandoned light house… You will also be able to discover one of the richest lagoons of the island… at your leisure and complete peace.

Lunch will be served on board in a relaxed and convivial atmosphere. You will reach harbour at the beginning of the afternoon where your vehicle will be waiting to return you back to your hotel. Your head bubbling with images of a superb day...
Our package always include BBQ lunch and the drinks.

Deep See Fishing
Mauritius is well known for the "Miraculous" catches that have been made along its coastline. The equipment and the organisation of the deep fishing are also at a very high and international standard.
A professional team who will be glad to make you appreciate your outing to the maximum will assist you.
The boat is equipped with 3 fishing rods (for 3 Fisherman) but can take a maximum of 8 persons on board.
Drinks are included and limited to beers.

Two formulae: 6 hours of fishing. Unless you are really a die-fisherman, you are advised taking the 9 hours trip. Boarding: 07hr30 in the morning.
We suggest that you to take your own snack or lunch pack.
