| “The purpose of this GROUP activity is to make you
discover the small islands situated on the south-east of Mauritius
on board of a wooden boat. You will have the opportunity to
revive the stories of the pirates’ era such as Surcouf
in Isle of France”.
It is the year 1795 and you find yourself on a pirate’s
island after a narrow escape from your hot air balloon. You
realise that you are stranded because your balloon’s
remains have been driven away by the tide.
You are watching the island dwellers’ careful approach
and allow them to finger your clothes. Mauritians are peaceful
planters and fishermen and their curiosity should be at least
of your worries. Over their heads, you keep watching the shrubbery
at the end of the beach, for danger lurks around every corner.
You have landed on forbidden territory in the middle of “The
war of the Pirates” and your money, food and water supply
have gone down with your hot air balloon.
Suddenly, an old barque approaches. It is handled by two
weathered seamen, certainly Pirates. You know that they have
spotted you among the Mauritians and you stand your ground
while watching their approach.
“We are the sole survivors of the crew of Captain Nicolas
Surcouf”, said the first pirate as he awkwardly stretched
out his hand to greet you.
You listen to the Mauritians repeating this name in fear;
Nicolas was the brother of the famous ‘King of the Corsaires’,
Robert Surcouf.
We are looking for a new Captain, said the second pirate.
He started unrolling a tattered old map, drawn up by the
late Nicolas Surcouf. You watch his finger pointing to a hidden
treasure on his map and you nod your head. “This treasure
will be yours!”
The team of treasure hunt wishes you a very happy journey
- the good news is that the treasure can be brought to the
20th century. The hunting pirates of treasures will offer
you snacks and drinks freely while you will be in search of
treasures filled with gifts.
During the journey, the catering team will offer you a delicious
barbecue with the best fish of the island and, of course,
in a festive atmosphere followed by typical songs of our island.
